Survivors of mass shootings in Colorado and Connecticut are gathering to honor those killed in the massacre at an Aurora movie theater a year after that attack.

Participants will read a list of names of gun violence victims from across the U.S. at the event at a park in Aurora, Colo.

The names will be read until 12:38 a.m. on Saturday, the moment that the shootings began in the theater last year.

Meanwhile, a Colorado gun rights group is holding its own rally nearby.

The Rocky Mountain Gun Owners Association says Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a sponsor of Friday's remembrance, is politicizing the Aurora massacre to promote gun control.
