Missing woman's estranged husband called 'obvious person of interest'

A state prosecutor is calling the estranged husband of a missing New Hampshire mother an "obvious person of interest" in the case.

James Robarge, who remains jailed in Vermont on unrelated motor vehicle charges, has also been called a suspect in the disappearance of 42-year-old Kelly Robarge.

Missing since last Thursday, New Hampshire authorities have only said they fear Kelly Robarge has suffered serious injury or death.

The couple reportedly had been estranged for months, with Kelly filing for divorce on the day she disappeared, The Union Leader reported.

Susan Morrell, senior assistant attorney general said numerous agencies are assisting in the two-state search, including the state Fish and Game Department and state and local police.

“I can’t comment on where any of the evidence is leading us other than it’s given us concern for her safety,” Morrell said.

Crews had taken Thursday off for the holiday and were expected to resume the search Friday.

Family and friends have held a candlelight vigil with Kelly’s daughter, Gabrielle, inviting the public to help “light the way home” for her mother.

“As we’ve said from the beginning, we were concerned for her physical safety and thought she could be seriously injured or dead and with every passing day when she is not in touch with other family members, our concerns grow deeper,” Morrell told The Union Leader.

James Robarge has pleaded not guilty to the unrelated motor charges.

Robarge reportedly called a Vermont medical center Tuesday and said “he might harm himself and he might harm others,” told The Union Leader. Police reportedly had attempted to stop Robarge which led to a short case during which he fled on foot.
