Ex-FBI supervisor to testify at Bulger trial

A former FBI agent who admitted taking payoffs from James "Whitey" Bulger is expected to be the next witness at Bulger's racketeering trial.

John Morris was the supervisor of former FBI Agent John Connolly, who was convicted of racketeering charges for warning Bulger in 1994 that he was about to be indicted, prompting Bulger to flee Boston. Bulger remained a fugitive for more than 16 years until he was finally captured in Santa Monica, Calif., in 2011.

Morris received immunity from prosecution and admitted he took $7,000 in payoffs from Bulger. He is expected to testify Wednesday.

The 83-year-old Bulger is charged in a broad racketeering indictment with playing a role in 19 murders during the 1970s and'80s. Bulger has pleaded not guilty and has denied being an FBI informant.
