New Jersey man admits to killing teen in 1990

A New Jersey man who turned himself in to police on April Fools' Day and confessed to a 1990 slaying has pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter.

Forty-one-year-old Steven Goff of Ventnor told a judge on Thursday he was an 18-year-old "in a rage" when he stabbed 15-year-old Frederick Hart and left him to die behind their Galloway Township homes.

Hart's family reported him missing in May 1990 and a hunter found the remains in December 1991.

Police say the evidence supported the confession.

Goff's attorney James Leonard Jr. told The Press of Atlantic City his client wanted to get the killing off his chest and bring closure to the victim's family.

Goff faces at least 15 years in prison under the plea agreement when he's sentenced in July.
