A passenger aboard a United Airlines flight heading from Hong Kong to Newark reportedly told the crew that he “poisoned everyone on board,” before being restrained by passengers.
United Airlines spokeswoman Jennifer Dohm confirmed a disturbance.
"While en route from Hong Kong to Newark, a passenger became disruptive onboard United flight 116," she said. "The crew followed procedures and the flight is continuing as scheduled."
The plane later arrived safely in Newark and the man was removed by a heavy police contingent, a passenger told the Associated Press.
Officials believe the man is emotionally disturbed and there was no evidence that passengers were poisoned, KABC reports.
