59-year-old golfer stabs partner with broken club in argument over score

An argument over a score at a Michigan golf course quickly escalated and led to one golfer stabbing another with a broken golf club, authorities say.

Oakland County police said the pair was arguing over their scores on the 12th hole at Westwynd Golf Course when the 59-year-old man broke his Callaway 5-iron on the arm of his 65-year-old partner, MyFoxDetroit.com reported.

According to police, the 59-year old then used the broken club to stab the other man.

Members of the group reportedly held the suspect down as the victim fled to the clubhouse in a golf cart for safety, but the suspect managed to escape and jumped into another golf cart allegedly screaming he was “going to get him,” MyFoxDetroit.com reported.

The suspect has been taken into custody and is being held for felonious assault, police said. The victim was treated and received multiple stitches in his arm.
