Remains of missing Ala. soldier who died during Korean War being returned to family in US

The remains of a soldier who was considered missing In action during the Korean War is set to be returned to his relatives in Alabama.

WBMA-TV (http://bit.ly/13eBdb5) reports that Master Sgt. Olen Berry Williams died during the Battle of Chosin Reservoir in North Korea and his remains were to be sent back to Alabama Thursday. He was declared missing in action Dec. 12, 1960 and was positively identified in March.

Relatives used biographical information and DNA to identify Williams, who had been buried at the National Military Cemetery in Hawaii.

Williams' remains were to be sent to the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. His family was planning a memorial service Sunday in Clanton, about 50 miles south of Birmingham.

Williams will be buried next to relatives at a cemetery in Verbena.
