A northern Indiana teacher was suspended and her classroom aide was fired after reportedly putting a diaper on a 5-year-old child for "acting like a baby."

The issue at Children of the Earth Montessori School in Highland, about 10 miles south of Chicago, was raised by the student's parents at a meeting last week, WGNTV.com reported. The diaper was reportedly put on the outside of the child's pants.

The child's mother, who asked not to be identified, said her child was humiliated during the incident, the station reported.

"There was no excuse for either of the two teachers present in the classroom at that moment," Alejandra Keefe, the school's administrator, told the station. "They made a really bad choice."

The lead teacher in the classroom was suspended indefinitely, the report said.
