An early morning fire swept through a two-story wood frame house Thursday, killing four people, including three children, and injuring a fourth child, authorities said.

Officials told local media that the injured child was taken to the burn unit at Westchester Medical Center.

The fire in the city of Schenectady, just west of the capital of Albany, broke out shortly after 4 a.m. It was the third fire of the night in the city of about 66,000 people and struck shortly after firefighters fought another blaze about a half-mile away.

Fire Chief Michael DellaRocco told The Daily Gazette the investigation will look for any connections between the two fires, but he said they are believed to be unrelated.
