Police believe a baby found on an Oahu beach was abandoned.
Police spokeswoman Michelle Yu says a woman parked at a beach late Sunday heard several people screaming. A few minutes later the screaming stopped, and the woman heard a baby crying.
She walked toward the ocean and saw an infant on the sand.
Yu says the woman took the baby to a hospital. Yu didn't have any information on the age or gender of the child. Police are investigating the case as endangering the welfare of a minor and child abandonment.
KHON-TV reports the baby was found at Sandy Beach in east Honolulu. The woman says she discovered it sometime between 11 p.m. Sunday and midnight.
