Delaware State Police say a teenager was hit by a car, forced into the vehicle by the driver and sexually assaulted before being let go.

The attack happened early Thursday on County Seat Highway in Laurel. Troopers say the 17-year-old girl was walking when she was hit by a car.

Police say the driver went back to the scene, forced her into the car and drove her somewhere in Laurel, where he sexually assaulted her.

Authorities say the man then drove the girl to her neighborhood and let her go.

The man is described of having an average build, clean-shaven and wearing glasses. His vehicle was described as silver with a mostly white license plate, The News Journal reports.

The girl was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
