REDMOND, Ore. – Police in Redmond, Ore., say a man who refused to pull over for a minor traffic violation bailed out of his SUV and tried to avoid officers by jumping into an irrigation canal.
Lt. Keith Knight says once the man was out of the canal, he was arrested Friday for investigation of attempting to elude, being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon, trespassing and criminal mischief.
KTVZ-TV says Oregon State Police helped with the arrest.
Knight says the original offense was cutting across private property, a violation of a city ordinance.
