A robbery suspect was fatally shot Tuesday after he allegedly tried to steal a phone belonging to a man who had agreed to sell it to him on Craigslist, authorities in Texas said.

Fort Worth police told WFAA.com that 20-year-old Desmond Paige met his intended victim outside a local cellphone store and the two reportedly got into an argument.

After allegedly attempting to rob the man, Paige was shot multiple times in the chest by the would-be victim, police told the station. He died at the scene.

The alleged victim, who reportedly has a concealed handgun license, was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the report.

It was unclear whether the alleged victim was shot by Page or if he accidentally shot himself, WFAA.com reported. He was not identified by police.
