ANNAPOLIS, Md. – First lady Michelle Obama is praising midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy for their service.
Obama told about 4,000 midshipmen Wednesday at the academy in Annapolis, Md., that she and President Barack Obama were working hard for them, just as they do for the country.
The first lady is scheduled to join Gov. Martin O'Malley as he signs the Veterans Full Employment Act of 2013 into law. The bill is designed to expedite the licensing procedure for veterans and military spouses who hold professional licenses in other states.
In February, the nation's governors were urged by the first lady to pass legislation that streamlines the process for service members and veterans to earn civilian credentials and licenses.
White House officials say 13 states have already complied.
