DURHAM, N.C. – A second North Carolina college campus was placed on lockdown just hours after the same alert was lifted at another school.
North Carolina Central University announced on its website that all buildings on its Durham campus were on lockdown Friday. School spokeswoman Ayana Hernandez says there was an incident reported in a residence hall on campus, but she couldn't provide further details, including whether a weapon was involved.
Hernandez says campus police are investigating and a search is under way.
Earlier Friday, North Carolina A&T State University was placed on lockdown after reports of a man with a rifle on campus. The lockdown on the Greensboro campus was lifted in the early afternoon.
The two campuses are approximately 50 miles apart.
