Police in Oregon say a Portland man will be arraigned Thursday on charges he harassed victim families of the mass shooting in Aurora, Colo.

Kevin Purfield is accused of emailing, calling and using social media to contact the victims' relatives. Investigators say the communications weren't threatening but were annoying and included "vile language." They didn't elaborate on the nature of the harassment.

Aurora police contacted Portland officers in late February and asked them to help with the investigation of the 45-year-old.

Portland police say they arrested Purfield Wednesday and he was jailed for investigation of telephonic harassment and stalking, both misdemeanors. Bail was set at $10,000. It was not immediately clear if he had a lawyer.

The movie theater shooting left 12 people dead and 70 injured.
