A man who was holed up in a house in the Washington coastal town of Hoquiam after allegedly wounding an officer has died after the 20-hour standoff ended in a shootout with police.

Hoquiam Sgt. Brian Dayton confirmed to KBKW the suspect is dead. No other officers were injured.

The man came out of the house firing at about 6 a.m., and moments later the house erupted in flames.

The standoff started Wednesday morning after police went to the house to arrest a 49-year-old man on a warrant from Sacramento for felony fraud.

They say the man shot one of the officers in the side, wounding him. He then barricaded himself on the upper floor of the home.

Authorities say the officer's injuries were not life-threatening.
