California woman reunited with 2 sons kidnapped and held for ransom more than a year in Mexico

WATSONVILLE, Calif. – A California woman has been reunited with her two sons who were kidnapped and held for ransom in Mexico since 2011.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/Xr68xV ) the boys were abducted by a couple who told Sarani Hernandez, of Watsonville, they would bring her 9- and 11-year-old boys back from Mexico.

Hernandez had left them there with her mother.

But police and U.S. Justice Department officials say the couple instead kidnapped the boys and extorted thousands of dollars from Hernandez.

Hernandez was concerned about being deported but came forward last year to report the abduction. The FBI and Mexican police found the boys in December.

The couple, Jesus Salinas and Patricia Delatorre, have been arrested. A third suspect has not been found.
