A high school basketball player in North Carolina died Tuesday night after he collapsed during a game, MyFox8.com reported.

Josh Level, 17, was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after collapsing during a game at the Quality Education Academy in Winston-Salem, the report said. The cause of the death was not immediately available.

David Tomlin, the head of New Garden Friends School, said in a statement Wednesday that counselors will be on site for students.

By early Wednesday morning, the hashtag "RIPJoshLevel" was trending on Twitter, the station reported.

GreensboroSports.com described Level as "an outstanding" basketball player, the report said. Level was described as "a good athlete who plays with a tremendous amount of effort," ESPN.com’s college recruiting page.
