A dying teen’s friends say their Michigan high school is refusing to allow a campus fundraiser for the student’s family, saying it will promote drug use, MyFoxDetroit.com reported.
Kerrigan Brandon, 15, a student at Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte, is in critical condition after overdosing on a cocktail of prescription pills last month, according to the station.
The teen may have only days left to live, Brandon’s mother told MyFoxDetroit, and her friends want to sell bracelets to raise funds to help the family. The $2 from each bracelet, along with money from T-shirt sales, would go directly to Brandon’s family.
But Brandon’s friends say school officials told them they couldn't sell the merchandise at the school because the attention could glorify drug use, according to the station.
The school principal would not comment on the matter.
