An Arizona police lieutenant was reportedly demoted for sexually explicit videos and a provocative photo she sent to a subordinate officer she had dated.
The Arizona Daily Star reports that Lt. Diana Lopez, a former public information officer for the Tucson Police Department, was reduced to the rank of sergeant following a probe that began in August. Anonymous letters sent to the department and city attorneys regarding Lopez led to the investigation, a departmental report made public Monday revealed.
Lopez, according to the probe, sent photographs and videos using her personal cellphone from May 2011 through August 2011 to the unidentified subordinate officer, who later shared the videos with other Tucson Police Department officers.
"Lopez used extremely poor judgment in sending these images, undermining her credibility as a commander,” wrote Assistant Chief Kathleen Robinson. “Her actions have negatively affected not only her reputation, but the reputation and mission of the Tucson Police Department."
