Authorities say five people were injured when a San Francisco cable car came to a sudden stop in the city's Nob Hill neighborhood.
The mishap occurred Wednesday morning. San Francisco Fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge says one of the injuries — an elderly man who fell and hit his head — was considered life-threatening.
Four others were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Additional details were not immediately available.
