Sunday January 20, 2013 Happening Now (special Inauguration edition)

Vice President Joe Biden was sworn in this morning for a second term by Supreme Court justice Sotamayor during a private ceremony at the U.S. Naval Observatory.

President Barack Obama will take the oath of office at 11:55 a.m. in the Blue Room at the White House in a small private ceremony.

In case you're wondering why there are two days of inaugural ceremonies, it's because the inauguration must happen on January 20th. Because this year the 20th is on a Sunday, there aren't normally public ceremonies, so they scheduled public events for tomorrow.

Tomorrow, President Obama will be sworn in publicly on Martin Luther King Junior day.. looking out across the mall to the Lincoln Memorial where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous "I have a dream" speech. A crowd of 800,000 expected. Weather will be mild.

Last night, First Lady Michelle Obama (who debuted a new "bangs" look) hosted an event with pop star Katy Perry for military families.

The standoff in the desert of Algeria appears to be over.. Algerian security says it has found numerous bodies as they search for more explosives. All 32 of the terrorists who took the natural gas compound over are dead. It appears that 23 hostages were killed. The State Department has issued a travel warning for Americans traveling in or to Algeria.

French airstrikes to stop terrorists in Mali have reportedly succeeded in driving out Islamists from one town.
