Man killed in New York subway shove had 'quiet strength,' friend says

Friends and neighbors have said their last goodbye to Sunando Sen, whose life as a striving immigrant in New York City was cut short last week when a woman with a history of psychological problems shoved him beneath a subway train.

A Hindu funeral service was held Monday in Queens for the 46-year-old, who was born in India but had lived in New York City for many years.

The New York Daily News reports that one friend, Lorcan Otway, remembered Sen as "an Indian Gregory Peck," saying he had "quiet strength" and had been involved in charitable work to aid oppressed Hindus in Bangladesh.

Sen didn't have family in New York, but friends said he was brilliant and a good problem-solver, and will be missed.
