An Indiana man has admitted that he started a fire inside a mosque in Ohio because he wanted revenge for the killings of American soldiers overseas.

Randy Linn, of St. Joe, Ind., pleaded guilty to hate crimes charges Wednesday in federal court in Toledo.

Linn told a judge that he was angry after seeing images of wounded soldiers on TV news.

Prosecutors say he drove about two hours to suburban Toledo in September and broke into the mosque, where he poured gasoline on a prayer rug and lit it on fire.

Authorities say Linn had firearms in his car and carried a gun into the mosque, which had no one in it at the time.

A deal between prosecutors and Linn calls for him to be sentenced to 20 years.
