Two more funerals today in Newtown, CT. James Mattioli and Jessica Reko will be laid to rest as funerals continue for the victims of the Newtown massacre. Yesterday, two boys were laid to rest.

Schools there will open for the first time since the horrific events of Friday - though not at the elementary school obviously.

The investigation is ongoing. We are now learning the madman who carried out the massacre had fired guns at shooting ranges in the past several years, but not recently. Peter Doocy and Rick Leventhal reporting.

There are growing calls for a debate on stricter gun control laws including from some prominent dems who have opposed those laws in the past including Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Mark Warner of Virginia. We'll see what the President has in mind soon. The NRA has so far been quiet.

Hawaii Senator Daniel Inouye has died. He was 88 and was one of the longest-serving senators in history. He'd been representing Hawaii in Congress as a Senator or Congressman since it became a state in 1959.

We may be getting closer to a deal on the so-called fiscal cliff. Apparently House Speaker John Boehner has agreed to an increase on top earners. The President has dropped his demand for a permanent ability to raise the debt ceiling.. and is reportedly considering some cuts to Medicare and Medicaid. It's a solution likely to anger both extremes of both parties. Carl Cameron reporting.

Iraq's president Jalal Talabani reportedly suffered a stroke, and is critical condition at a Baghdad hospital.

NBC's chief foreign affairs correspondent Richard Engel and his production team have been released from a five day captivity in Syria by an "unknown" group. Meantime, Russia is sending a warship to the Mediterranean in case it needs to evacuate citizens from Syria.

Iran says it won't stop enriching high-grade uranium.

Mass rallies expected today in Egypt against a new constitution. Preliminary results show it ahead in a first round vote over the weekend.
