Online threats against university traced to Alaska teen

University of Alaska Anchorage police say online threats toward the university have been traced to a 15-year-old boy.

The Anchorage Daily News says the remarks by the son of a former UAA student were posted late Saturday.

According to UAA police, the boy said he didn't intend to hurt anyone and just wanted to see if anyone would respond.

Police say in a notice sent out Sunday to students, staff and faculty that the teen identified himself online as "disgruntled, out of work, student loan debts to pay" and made threats to himself and UAA.

The FBI determined where the post originated, and authorities went to the home outside of Anchorage.

UAA Police Chief Rick Shell says the U.S. Attorney's office declined to bring charges, but the police investigation continues.
