Award-winning educator reportedly admits to child sex abuse

An award-winning and nationally recognized educator is now in the Washington County Jail in Utah facing six counts of forcible sodomy, Fox13Now.com reported.

"I'm heartbroken, shocked, surprised, disappointed," said David Sullivan, chairman of the Soldier Hollow Charter School Board. "Having worked with somebody, you know, it’s hurtful to see that."

Charles Edward Weber, 65, was most recently the principal of Soldier Hollow Charter School in Wasatch County, where he helped the school win a prestigious national education award.

A former elementary school student of Weber's recently told FBI agents that Weber molested him repeatedly during the mid-1970s, when the alleged victim was between 11 and 13 years old.

Charging documents indicate Weber admitted to investigators last week that he had been sexually abusing boys over the past 35 years, including the man who first reported the alleged abuse. Weber also admitted to sexually abusing a young, minor male in Wasatch County earlier this year, the report said.

Weber was terminated from his position as principal at Soldier Hollow Charter School in August. Sullivan said the termination had nothing to do with any allegations of sexual impropriety.

Weber will be transferred to the Wasatch County Jail later this week.

Anyone with information about any other potential victims is asked to contact the Salt Lake City office of the FBI.
