School officials in Cranston say they've disciplined a substitute teacher who punished two third-graders by sending them out in the cold weather without coats.
The school's chief operating officer, Raymond L. Votto Jr., told The Providence Journal the teacher showed a "lack of classroom management" when he sent the students outside Monday because they were "acting up."
Officials haven't released the teacher's name and Votto wouldn't disclose the type of discipline. He noted substitutes are hired at the department's discretion and aren't covered by a teachers' union contract.
The substitute teacher's punishment angered parents, who complained to school officials.
