At a glance: The latest information on Superstorm Sandy and the new storm that hit the East

The latest on the fallout from Superstorm Sandy, which hit the East Coast last week, and a new wintry storm that hit the Northeast.

— WEATHER: A new storm blanketed much of the Northeast with several inches of snow, including more than a foot in parts of New Jersey and Connecticut.

— RECOVERY: The new storm didn't cause widespread new damage but dealt another blow to residents still in the dark and without heat from Sandy as temperatures plunged.

— POWER OUTAGES: The latest storm caused thousands of new power outages, some of them among customers who had just gotten it back after Sandy. In many areas, power was quickly restored because post-Sandy crews were already in place.

New Jersey: 400,000 customers without power; 150,000 of them new.

New York City and suburban Westchester County: 70,000 outages; 55,000 of them new.

Long Island: 300,000 outages, 80,000 of them new.

TOTAL: About 750,000 customers regionwide from both Sandy and the latest storm.

— TRAVEL: Major airlines scratched about 600 flights in the U.S. on Thursday, mostly in the New York area, although airports in Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and elsewhere are affected. The extensive Long Island Rail Road suspended service overnight but was back in service for the morning commute.
