The World Trade Center memorial will re-open to the public on Tuesday, now that the damage from Superstorm Sandy has been taken care of.
Joe Daniels, president of the September 11 Memorial and Museum, told The Associated Press on Monday that water that rushed into the site has been pumped out.
Parts of the visitor center and a special room for victims' families were damaged by four feet of water, as was some of the museum that is being built. But Daniels says that what he calls "the most sacred" point of the memorial remains intact -- the reflective fountains ringed by the names of the dead.
And the "survivor tree" that emerged unscathed from the Sept. 11 terror attack has again survived -- this time the forces of nature.
