Southern California authorities investigating alleged hazing by high school soccer players have cited four teenagers and interviewed dozens more, while a coach has been suspended.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Dan Scott says several players at La Puente High School east of Los Angeles allegedly were hazed last spring on school grounds. Scott won't reveal the nature of the allegations but they are being investigated by a unit that usually handles sex crimes.
Scott says three current or former soccer players, all 18 or younger, were cited last week. They were released to their parents and could face assault charges.
During the investigation, detectives interviewed more than 70 people, including current students.
School district officials say one teacher coach has been placed on paid leave during the investigation.
