LANSING, Mich. – A 44-year-old former railroad worker from Michigan has stepped forward as the sole winner of a recent $337 million Powerball jackpot.
Donald Lawson, of Lapeer, was introduced as the winner of the Aug. 15 drawing at a news conference Friday in Lansing.
Michigan Lottery officials say Lapeer elected to take the lump-sum cash option of $224.6 million.
Lapeer says he quit his job with the railroad when he found out he won.
The winning ticket was sold at a Sunoco gas station in Lapeer, about 45 miles north of Detroit.
