A single mother in California says her boss at the restaurant where she works told her she was not allowed to pump breast milk at work because doing so would be "disgusting."

28-year-old Kristen Joseph tells KTLA she usually spends about 10 minutes while at work at Hennessey's Tavern in Seal Beach pumping breast milk since her 6-month-old son, Wrigley, was born.

However, she claims when she asked her on-duty manager for the keys to the office so she could pump last week, he told her no.

"He said that whether it's in an office or in the bathroom, I was still in the restaurant and that was disgusting and that people eat there," Joseph told KTLA. "I went outside and I was freaking out and crying. My co-workers tried to calm me down."

The manager allegedly told Joseph she could leave, but she stayed to finish her work. Joseph says she has contacted Hennessey's corporate offices, who are conducting an investigation.
