A former state police officer who led the investigation into the death of Drew Peterson's third wife told jurors he let Peterson to sit in on an interview with his distraught fourth wife.

Peterson was charged in Kathleen Savio's 2004 death after his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, disappeared in 2007.

Patrick Collins testified Wednesday at Peterson's murder trial in Savio's death. Collins said he interviewed Stacy Peterson shortly after Savio was found dead and let Peterson take part as a "courtesy" to a fellow officer.

Collins described Peterson sitting on a card-table chair next to Stacy, putting his hand on her knee and his arm around her shoulder. Drew Peterson even corrected one of her answers.

Collins said he stopped the interview when Stacy Peterson started crying.
