The deadline has arrived for victims of the Indiana State Fair stage collapse to submit claims to be part of a $13.2 million settlement offer by the state and two private companies.
A proposed settlement offer allows victims and their families to share in the $6 million Indiana is offering only if they agree to clear Mid-America Sound and James Thomas Engineering of any wrongdoing in last year's accident that killed seven people and injured about 60. In return, victims would also get part of $7.2 million the companies are offering.
Wednesday is the deadline for their claims.
Indiana attorney general's office spokesman Bryan Corbin says the companies have until Aug. 15 to determine if enough people have filed claims to proceed with the settlement.
