Cate Edwards, daughter of former presidential candidate John Edwards, has announced she is joining a new public-interest law firm with offices in New York and Washington.

In a post on Twitter, the 30-year-old Edwards said her firm Advocates for Justice will represent "regular, working people."

Edwards is a 2009 Harvard Law School graduate who previously clerked for a federal judge and worked at a Washington-based firm specializing in civil rights cases. The new firm's web site gives her title as managing partner and lists her role as president of the education foundation named for her late mother, Elizabeth Edwards.

The biography makes no mention of her father, the Democrat who recently beat criminal charges over money used to hide his pregnant mistress as he sought the White House in 2008.
