Authorities say a small plane carrying four people has made an emergency landing on a southern California freeway.

The California Highway Patrol says there were no injuries as the Cessna set down late Sunday on Interstate 15 in Escondido.

The patrol's dispatch office says that there was some traffic on the roadway, but the pilot was able to avoid hitting any vehicles.

Now, two lanes of the freeway just north of the El Norte Parkway are closed as authorities and owners of the plane work to move it off the roadway.

The office says they're working on a plan to tow the airplane away before the start of the morning rush.
