WASHINGTON – The White House says President Barack Obama called Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday and they agreed that the growing violence in Syria shows the need for a political transition as soon as possible.
The White House says the two leaders noted their differences in dealing with the crisis but agreed to have their officials work toward a solution. There were no apparent signs of a breakthrough.
