Baby, it's hot outside. Triple digit heat for much of the nation today as the East Coast inherits the Midwest's ugly heat (and it's already been hot out East!) Several cities have set new records this week including St Louis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Chicago.. and many of those cities have also seen a corresponding increase in crime. Locals are setting up cooling centers in some locations. We've got some great brainroom info to weave through the hours today.

At 8:30 we get June jobs numbers. This will be a big story today. Analysts are expecting 90,000 new jobs in June, but the unemployment rate to remain unchanged. It will be even bigger news if those numbers are outside that range. We are expecting comments from the President on the numbers.. as he continues his bus tour of PA and OH. He's in Poland, Ohio this morning.

In Syria, a top general and part of the Assad inner circle have reportedly defected to Turkey. It's a big slap at the embattled Assad regime.. This as Secy of State Hillary Clinton is expected to attend a "Friends of Syria" meeting in Paris.

There's been another 7 arrests in England.. that brings the total number of suspected terrorists who've been taken in by London authorities to 13. Keep an eye on this developing story.
