Happy Fourth of July!

Iran is one of our top stories today. Five party talks in Istanbul have ended in miserable failure (again). Iran has launched dozens of long range missiles.. attacking "mock" enemy bases. There are more than 100,000 U.S. troops within range of Iranian rockets and bombs. The U.S. is dramatically stepping up our military footprint in the Persian Gulf.. and did I mention that oil prices are jumping again?

Trucks carrying NATO supplies are crossing through Pakistan en route to Afghanistan for the first time today in what some are calling a diplomatic victory.

More than a million people across the Mid-Atlantic are *still* without power today since those wild storms Friday night. This as a heat wave continues to broil much of the nation.

Good news out of Colorado (for once). The so-called Waldo Canyon fire is fully contained in Colorado Springs and 70% contained overall. Damage estimates from the more than 300 burned homes? At least 110 million bucks. We are continuing to watch that fire and more fires burning in several Western states very closely.

There is a small wildfire burning near Los Angeles.

President Barack Obama and fmr MA Governor Mitt Romney are out and about celebrating the Fourth of July. Romney is on vacation in New Hampshire where he'll participate in a town parade. President Obama is making remarks at a naturalization ceremony and is hosting a White House barbecue.

...PER WH: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Alejandro Mayorkas will present the countries of the candidates for naturalization and Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano will deliver the oath of allegiance.
