Two Republican senators are criticizing the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals for holding their annual tax-payer funded judicial conference in Maui, Hawaii.
Senators Charles Grassley (R-IA) and Jeff Sessions (R-AL) wrote a scathing letter to Chief Judge Alex Kozinski asking why the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa (costing over $200 a night) was selected, how many judges are expected to attend and if the cost of the plane tickets plus $289-$433 per diem is necessary.
The Circuit Court of Appeals defended their decision in a statement from Executive Cathy A. Catterson, making it clear that the costs are equivalent to any conference held on the mainland and that any recreational activities will not be tax-payer funded.
In light of the GSA scandal - do you think this is a wise use of your tax dollars?
Where would you recommend the Ninth Circuit hold their annual conference?
