WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – An inmate jailed with a Florida teenager accused of bludgeoning his parents with a hammer says the teen is signing autographs behind bars and is known by nicknames including "Hammer Boy" and "Hambo."
That's according to an interview with detectives given by Justin Toney in the case of 18-year-old Tyler Hadley.
Hadley has pleaded not guilty to the killings last July of his parents. Police say he killed them, then hosted a party at their house. Hadley's attorney didn't return a call Friday seeking comment.
In investigative files released by prosecutors, Toney says Hadley has enjoyed a bit of jailhouse celebrity, offering autographs exclaiming "It's hammer time." He says the teen also told him he's seen and talked to the devil.
