How you can help Texas tornado victims

There are several ways that you can help out people affected by yesterday's tornados across North Texas.

The easiest, and most effective, is to give money to the Red Cross of North Texas. This money helps pay for rent or hotel rooms, new clothes, food and more for families who have lost everything.

You can text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to American Red Cross Disaster Relief, or visit www.redcross.org to donate more money online.

VOLUNTEERING

The Volunteer Center of North Texas organizes groups to help where there is the most need. Visit www.vcnt.org to sign up and learn more.

In Forney, volunteers are asked to meet in one of two places to help clean up one of the hardest-hit towns.

Gather at Mustang Creek Community Church, 13851 FM Road 548, or find the Forney Police Command Center at FM 548 and Ridgecrest Road.

Be sure to bring hats, gloves, sunscreen, and water.

In Lancaster, a volunteer briefing will be held today at the Library at 9:00 a.m. Donations can be called in to 972-218-2631.
