NEW YORK – Community officials say someone climbed into a construction excavator and plowed through a brand new playground in Queens.
Community board district manager Jonathan Gaska tells WNBC television that almost every piece of playground equipment was damaged.
It's estimated that it will cost $100,000 to repair the damage.
The playground near the Rockaway Beach boardwalk was scheduled to open this summer.
Police are investigating.
