At least 2 tornadoes damage homes, derail train cars in Nebraska

Severe weather in the Midwest spawned at least two tornadoes in central Nebraska that damaged homes and derailed train cars.

Bill Taylor of the National Weather Service says two tornadoes hit Sunday night on the western side of North Platte, Neb., and damaged several homes. In one of those homes, a person who was trapped and injured was rescued.

Taylor says at least 15 train cars there derailed.

Elsewhere, Taylor says a possible tornado damaged homes north of Valentine, Neb., in northern Nebraska and southern South Dakota.

In western Oklahoma, possible tornadoes damaged electrical power lines when they touched down. No injuries were immediately reported.

Taylor says the weather is expected to move east Monday, affecting areas from eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, and as far south as Texas.
