California skier killed in snow slide identified

A skier killed in a snow slide near Alpine Meadows, Calif., is being identified as 29-year-old Benjamin Brackett, Fox 40 in Sacramento reported.

Brackett was with two friends Thursday afternoon when he was caught in the slide.

After the incident, one of the other skiers was able to go and get help. Brackett was rescued from the mountain by sled and taken to Tahoe Forest Hosptial, where he later died, according to the station.

In a statement on Friday, Brackett’s employer Squaw Valley said: Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends. He will be truly missed by his friends, family and team members here at Squaw.”
