RICHMOND, R.I. – Richmond police say an assistant coach at Chariho (CHAH'-rih-hoe) High School has been charged with child pornography and indecent solicitation of a child.
Police say 51-year-old Glen Matteson was arrested Wednesday. Police began investigating Sunday after a Richmond parent reported that his juvenile son had received inappropriate text messages from Matteson, an assistant soccer coach.
A detective posed as the boy in text-message exchanges with Matteson, during which police say the coach sent him sexually explicit content.
Matteson could not immediately be reached. The school district superintendent was not immediately available for comment.
Police are asking anyone with concerns about alleged inappropriate conduct by Matteson to contact them.
