Merry Christmas!

We have a deal! The House will take up the payroll tax cut extension this morning after all - via voice vote. There could still be problems though. The measures must be passed through the House via "unanimous consent" so even if one person votes no... it delays passage.. we'll watch carefully. If House approves it, a pro forma session of the Senate means it automatically passes there.

Senator Harry Reid will hold a news conference. We'll look to turn some sound.

Newt Gingrich is in SC. Mitt Romney is in NH. Michele Bachmann in Iowa.

Millions of Americans hitting the road today.. Holiday travel up this year.

A car bombing in Syria targeting gov't agencies signals an escalation in the conflict there. At least 30 dead.

Keep a close eye on North Korea today.. some very aggressive statements coming out of the North against South Korea.. very worrying.

Also keep an eye on Pakistan where it sounds like some kind of power struggle is taking place..
