Texas Hunter Charged With Trespassing After Shooting at Middle School

A man questioned after two boys were shot outside a South Texas middle school has been charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass.

Authorities searching adjacent ranchland for the shooter found David Guerrero Navarro hunting Monday with an assault rifle north of Harwell Middle School on the northern outskirts of Edinburg. The charge is not directly related to the shootings as investigators say Navarro lacked permission to hunt on the property, and the suspect is in the country illegally. He remains jailed because of his immigration status, and it's unknown whether he had an attorney.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino expects ballistic test results next week to determine if Navarro or two target shooters fired the shots that wounded the students.
